AtlantiC

The vastness of the Atlantic Ocean stretches from the North Pole to the far south. As the second largest ocean, it covers a fifth of the earth’s surface with its approx. 90 million km². The term Atlantis thalassa is taken from the ancient Greek language and means ‘Sea of the Atlas’.

Morocco borders the North Atlantic. Of this, 11% is a marine reserve. The salinity of the water is 3.5% and the average depth is 3 km.

The Atlantic coast of Morocco is 2,000 km long. Surfers from all over the world come here to catch the waves. The waters are also full of life – from fish to whales and dolphins to sea turtles. Most famous for the bluefin tuna, the swordfish, different species of sea turtles and the common dolphin.
